Ultras Jokerit 04 Hellsinki [in english]

We believe in supporting culture which makes a difference from the traditional Finnish one. This is what our action is based to and this way Ultras Jokerit, an unregistered group of Jokerit Helsinki, pushes the red-yellow-team to its best.

When formed in 2004, the main target of our group was to plan choreographies for the Eteläpääty, South End, of Helsinki Arena. Still, UJ has all the time reached for independent action. The two previous years have shown that there was need for group like this. After the emergence of our banner the development has been rapid, thanks to our active members. Although even more independent action will occur in the future, the co-operation between our group and the fan club of Jokerit will remain, mainly through the choreographies.

We love our club and want to show it. We don’t sit quiet and wish for victory in Arena. We stand, shout, sing and wave our flags all the way to very end. Still, we don’t hesitate to show our feelings and criticize the action of players or management.

Many ideas of our group have come from other European societies, especially from Italy, the one that originally built the ultras-culture. Nevertheless, Ultras Jokerit doesn’t try to copy the manners of others to its own section but to create a Finnish ultras-culture that mixes traditional style to Finnish one. This way we’ll create sustainable action.

We don’t have any friendships with other Finnish groups but at the same time we don’t automatically see them as enemies. Violence is not the first thing on our list so don’t come to beg it.

Ultras Jokerit tries to create a situation in which new forms of supporting are possible. Because of this we insist that there should be own area for the visiting supporters in every arena and that for example the so-called indoor-flames has to be legalized. Also we try to keep up discussion so that stereotypes about ultras as hooligans would be forgotten.

We resist modern sport that bases everything on profits. Too big amount of games and playing days from Monday to Sunday serve only those who make money about our passion. We are in our section because of the club not because of money-stinking entertainment that underestimates supporters. We also believe that continuous trading of players is destroying the sport.

In the world where borders are vanishing, locality and the club as a sign of it are more and more important for us. Ultras Jokerit is a defender of Helsinki and red-yellow-identity.
